Founder warm-intro request template generator
The same four-part structure that gets replied to consistently: an honest opener, a specific ask, a forwardable pitch, and an out. Pick the scenario, fill in the specifics, get a draft you can send.
Your draft
Hey [mutual], quick fundraising ask, no pressure if it's the wrong moment. Would you be open to forwarding the paragraph below to [target]? [one sentence on why this specific person] If they bite I'll take it from there. If not, no harm done; just useful to know. ── forwardable below ── [three-sentence pitch in your own voice] Happy to send over a one-pager or hop on a call, whatever's easiest. ── end ── Either way, thanks for considering. Hope all's well on your end.
Why this structure
- Short opener. Two sentences of context and an explicit “no pressure if it’s the wrong moment.” This gives the mutual permission to say no without awkwardness.
- Specific ask.Not “could you make an intro,” which puts the work on them. The phrase “forward the paragraph below” tells them exactly what to do.
- Forwardable pitch. Three sentences, in your voice, that the mutual can pass through with zero editing.
- An out.“If not, no harm done.” The relationship survives a no.
