Mesh (formerly Clay) is the design-forward personal-network app formerly called Clay, now owned by Automattic, which keeps contact details current automatically and ships a read-and-write MCP server.
Mesh is the new name for Clay (clay.earth). Automattic acquired Clay in June 2025, the product rebranded to me.sh on 2026-03-25, and clay.earth now redirects there. The iOS listing still reads 'Formerly known as Clay, same app, new name'. Every review, guide or comparison written about Clay describes this product.

Mesh is cheaper and better at the job it picked: contact details that never go stale, in the best-looking app here. Buy Wend instead if what you keep losing is the conversation rather than a job title, and you want your assistant reading all of it without being able to change it behind your back.

Where Wend fits in
Not another app to open. Wend is the memory underneath the assistant you already use: it builds itself out of what your Mac already holds, and every fact it keeps records where it came from. Once the people are in one place, Wend plans the day around them, which is the part a planner without the graph cannot do.
Agent access is commodity, and this comparison starts by saying so. Dex ships 47 MCP tools, Mesh ships one that reads and writes, folk shipped one in July 2026, and Attio, Cloze and Granola all ship hosted OAuth MCP. A connector separates nobody.
So the question moves to the write. Your assistant can now change the record of the people you know. What keeps that memory worth trusting is whether a person saw the claim before it landed, and whether the fact says where it came from afterwards.
Measured at the write, we found no proposal step, no approval step and no per-fact source anywhere in Mesh's published material as of 2026-08-06. The category around them reads the same way.
The gap holds because it is a data model, not a feature. A fact carries a source only if the source was recorded the instant the fact was created, on every write path and every import. Ship the queue next quarter and the old facts still have nothing under them.
So Wend recorded the source on its first row and on every row since, and every agent write waits in a queue you approve. Every fact has a source, and you approved it.

Wend. Mesh reads iMessage and your call log behind Full Disk Access, and its App Store build has neither. Wend reads WhatsApp, Messages, Apple Mail, Contacts and Calendar, and WhatsApp needs no permission prompt at all. The import sends none of your messages to a model.
Can I move my Mesh or Clay contacts to Wend?
Yes. Export to CSV and import it. A parser reads the file, with no model involved.
