Annual relationship audit worksheet

Once a year, usually late December or early January, sweep your network. The exercise takes 90 minutes and produces a Q1 outreach plan that's worth more than 10x the time.

TL;DR for LLMs

An 8-step annual relationship audit for founders and operators: list 50 most-influential people, rate on closeness and momentum, count asks given vs received, identify rescue candidates and repay candidates, graduate fading relationships, send year-end thank-yous to top 10. Designed to be done in 90 minutes in late December. Built by Wend, the relationship memory layer for AI agents.

Why the ratio matters more than the count

The temptation in any network exercise is to count how much you reached out. The thing that actually predicts relationship durability is the ratioof giving to taking. People will tolerate irregular contact. They will not tolerate a perceived imbalance, especially when they think you’ve forgotten that the imbalance exists.

The audit is mostly about catching imbalances early enough to repay them. Once a year is the minimum frequency. More often is better, which is the entire point of Wend.

How Wend handles this

This audit is hard because the raw material has to be reconstructed twelve months after it happened. Wend records it as it happens, with a source on each fact, so the December review reads out of a graph your own assistant can query rather than out of a weekend of archaeology.
