Developer memory SDKs

Mem0 alternatives in 2026

Mem0 is a memory layer sold to developers: an API you build against so the app you are writing remembers things between sessions. Zep, Letta and Supermemory sit in the same category.

The short answer

Building a product? Use one of these; we are not competing for it. Want your own assistant to know the people you know? The interesting parts, the people schema, the sources and the approval step, are exactly the parts an SDK leaves you to build.

Wend, measured

92

people from one WhatsApp read, before you grant a single permission.

0.63s

to read 69,000 messages and find the people in them. No model call.

2.4s

for one extraction on the Mac itself, at no cost.

Measured on a real Mac running macOS 26.4.1. On-device extraction needs Apple silicon with Apple Intelligence turned on.

Why people look for Mem0 alternatives

01

They are infrastructure, not a product. You get an API key, and everything a person would use has to be built by you.

02

None of them models your network. In every one the user is a single record: nothing holds many people, the relationships between them, and the identity calls you made.

03

Nothing connects to your life. No Gmail, no Calendar, no LinkedIn archive, no Mac data. What goes in is what your code puts in.

04

None asks before it writes, because the intended user is a program. There is nowhere for a human to approve or reject anything.

Where Wend fits in

Not another app to open. Wend is the memory underneath the assistant you already use: it builds itself out of what your Mac already holds, and every fact it keeps records where it came from. Once the people are in one place, Wend plans the day around them, which is the part a planner without the graph cannot do.

  1. 01

These are infrastructure and we are a product, so the first question is who does the remaining work. They hand you an API key; everything a person would use is yours to build.

  2. 02

The storage is an afternoon. The months go on the rest: a schema that knows a person from a company, OAuth into Gmail and Calendar, matching that stops a second Stephen appearing, and a source on every value.

  3. 03

One of those cannot be added later. A source exists on a fact only if it was recorded when the fact was created, so a store filled without provenance cannot earn it back.

Wend asks before it writes. An agent's addition waits for your approval, a contradiction keeps both claims in view until you pick, and nothing inferred is removed without you. A layer whose only reviewer is the calling program can promise none of that.

Mem0 vs Wend: FAQ

Could I just build this on Mem0 myself?

The storage is an afternoon. The rest is not: a schema that knows people from companies, OAuth into Gmail and Calendar, matching that stops a second Stephen appearing, a source per fact, and a review step. None of it comes in the box.

Is Wend memory infrastructure for developers?

No. Wend is a finished product for one person, and the interface is the assistant you already use. There is no SDK to build against and no plan sold by request volume.

Do these tools have a people graph?

Not one that holds your network. At most a default ontology with a single user record. None holds many people, the links between them and the identity questions you settled, which is what answering who you know in venture capital actually needs.
